IX ROUNDS DOWN..
The second round of action at the legendary Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardi-
no, California has always produced interesting storylines. It’s one of the most technically and physically demanding tracks on the calendar, regularly combining sweltering heat and impossibly rough track conditions to push the competitors to their absolute limit. Fortunately those on the gate, the traditional SoCal heat stayed away and the skies were subdued with a tinge of overcast throughout the afternoon, keep- ing the temperature below the seventy degree mark. The 250 class is one that’s normally filled with parody and unpredictability, but Aaron Plessinger had other ideas as the Ohio native put together two moto wins in order to take his first Pro Motocross overall victory, earning himself the red plate in the process. Justin Coo- per continued to impress with his raw speed by setting the fastest qualifying time and other rookie talent such as Garrett Marchbanks rose to the occasion with a seventh place moto finish. The defending series cham- pion, Zach Osborne, was doing his best to control the damage as he did damage to a pre-existing thumb injury during the week, and he still managed to come away with 2-5 moto scores after crashing twice. Jeremy Martin struggled in the first moto but found a way to rediscover his regular speed in the second race, earning third overall with 5-2 scores. Meanwhile, his older brother, Alex, landed in second overall with an incredibly consistent display in the form of two third place finishes.
