250 OPEN
THE MOTOPLAYGROUND RACE
at Ponca City
KAED KNIFFING >> 2 “Kniffing Knifes Through The Pack”, as make-
shift headlines would read in the local paper on Monday morning. Kaed Kniffing, a true west coast assassin, has the unique ability, to carve his way through a multitude of riders, and come out smelling like a rose; regardless of the circumstance. It’s as though his mind
is able to slow things down, and taking things one step at a time, allows him to digest and decipher sequences, much more thoroughly than others. It was the same song and dance of the first moto in the 250 open class. Where Kniffing would sit back and patiently watch Dilan Schwartz from a distance. Now, don’t get this wrong, they were both absolutely blistering around this Oklahoma course; nearly lighting the racing surface on fire with their sheer spead. However, Kniffing would pick up on a bit of Schwartz antics, and wait for a mistake to be made. It was almost as if he were in stakeout mode, disguised in a bit of camouflage, and lurking from a distance. He waited for the absolute perfect moment, as the clock would continue to click down, Tic, toc, tic, toc..... and here it comes. After staying just behind Schwartz until the fourth lap, a mistake by the number 74 would leave the lead wide open; and it would be Kniffing’s for the taking. He would then scurry away, with a mad dash to the finish line, where he would be congratulated, and take the moto win. For the second moto, it was Kniffing with a rather lackluster start (in his standards) and a place for him to present a comeback ride for the ages. Hovering seventh for not one, not two, but three laps, had the rest of the field in the front of the pack, able to break away, as he sorted through traffic. Finally though, after three laps in this position, he would move into sixth; but then it was as though he went into pure overdrive and “sicko” mode. Leapfrog- ging three riders on the last lap, it would land him in a podium position for the moto. With his heart rate skyrocketing, and a tad out of breath, he would depart from the track, asking those around him where exactly he would finish overall. After some quick calculations and configuring he would be penciled in for second overall. An exceptional finish for the weekend’s festivities.
