when the racing was said and done at the end of the week, but one of the most outstand- ing accomplishments was not in the form of a number one plate. Although Pierce Brown didn’t win a championship this year at the Ranch, the B class standout was easily the fast- est rider at the Ranch, setting eight out of ten of the fastest lap times recorded throughout the week. It seemed as though 2018 was the year of the dou- ble champion -- Derek Drake took the title in both 250 A
and Open Pro Sport, therefore earning himself the coveted 2018 AMA Nicky Hayden Hori- zon Award, Ryder DiFrancesco won two titles simultaneously for the first time in his career, Nate Thrasher dominated the Supermini class, Mike Brown repeated his feat from last year, and Ty Masterpool stole the show yet again with some incredible come-from-behind performances in order to win
a pair of championships on his YZ125. There’s some incred- ible talent filtering through the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship at the moment and those in at- tendance and watching around the globe were truly fortunate to witness these athletes leave it all on the line in pursuit of their lifelong dream.
