JAGGERKOCH Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Champion
Jagger Koch put together an exceptional run of results in the 125 C class in his very first time competing at the famed Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch. He worked his way back from a seventh place result in the opening moto, finishing the second and third races on the podium in order to clinch the first Loretta Lynn Amateur National Championship of his racing career. The Colorado native is certainly no stranger to mountain ranges, but he definitely wasn’t planning on leaving him-
self a mountain to climb at the beginning of the first 125 C moto -- nonetheless, that’s exactly what he did as he crossed the finish line in seventeenth place on
the opening lap. The Yamaha rider utilized superior racecraft the next two times around the circuit, passing ten riders in two laps to advance all the way to seventh position. At that point he turned his fastest lap time of the entire moto, but the gap between himself and his nearest rivals was too much to overcome in the remain- ing laps of racing action. Although seventh place seemed like a poor finish at the time, his fight through the field at the beginning of the moto would prove to be pivotal in the late stages of the championship battle. Koch rebounded strongly in the second moto as he jumped out to an early second place position, maintaining a solid pace all the way from the gate drop to the checkered flag in order to wrap up the podium finish. Fortunately for him, there was quite a mixed bag of result for the podium finishers from the previous moto, placing all the pressure on the third race while blowing the fight for the title wide open. Koch’s first lap intensity paid
off again in the third and final moto, charging from a third place start all the way to the lead in just a couple of laps. In the meantime, the Colorado native also turned the fastest lap of the moto on his way to the top spot, winning when it mattered the most, earning that number one plate.
