MICHAELBROWN Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Champion
Mike Brown made his debut at the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship way back in 1987, winning a couple of number one plates before fully graduating to the professional ranks in the early 1990s. The Husqvarna Brand Ambassador made his return to Hurricane Mills, Tennessee last year to contest the Senior (40+) class as well as the Junior (25+) class, handily sweeping both of them on his way to a couple of number one plates. The Tennessee native had no issues collecting his third and fourth Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championships, but it seemed that the keyboard warriors of the motocross industry did. Brownie received a lot of flak following his domination of the event last year as people took to forums and message boards to voice their disgruntled opinions with an ex-pro racing in the Vet class. The Rockstar Energy | Husqvarna rider had some choice words for them on the podium, “Anyone that wants to race for these titles, come and get them.” There are no specific classes for former champions at the Ranch and therefore Brown was racing well within the rules, fulfilling his lifelong, undying desire to simply race his motorbike. The forty-six year old re- turned to defend the number one plate in both Junior (25+) and Vet (40+) this year at the Ranch; although the competition did their best to “come and get” the number one plates that Brown was boasting, he logged another week of dominant performances. It was hardly a contest in the Vet (40+) class as the Husqvarna rider cleared off in all three motos, steadily pulling away from the competition following his inevitable holeshot in order to sweep the division. The Junior (25+) class was a bit more challenging as he faced some pres- sure from the Yamaha ride of Ricky Renner, but he was still able to compile 1-2-1 moto scores in order to come away with the overall victory as well as his fourth title at the Ranch in only two years.
