TERRYBOSTARD Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Champion
Terry Bostard’s first entry in the Loretta Lynn’s Vault dates all the way back to 1983; his best result in the Loretta Lynn’s Vault is a thirteenth overall in the 85 (14-15) Stock class in 1984. It’s been a long time since the Californian made the long journey to Tennessee for the one and only Amateur National Motocross Championship, but the 37th running of the event marked his return. Bostard entered in the Vet (45+) class and quickly made his mark on the competition, battling his way to a win in the opening moto. The Honda rider didn’t get the holeshot, but he was within the battle for the lead on the opening lap as he eventually crossed the finish line in second position. The top three bumped and nudged one another at the front of the pack, temporar- ily dropping Bostard back to third position, but that was just the beginning of a spirited charge to the front of the pack. He set the fastest lap of the moto while in the process of chasing down the leader, overtaking the top spot with only a couple of laps to go. Bostard made quick work of the second moto as he completed the trifecta -- the holeshot, fastest lap, and moto win. Although he pulled a second place start in the third and final moto, the Honda rider was well aware of the championship standings as he rode well within his lim- its. Bostard allowed a couple of riders in front of him to fight for the podium as he kept to himself in fourth position, cruising to the checkered flag in order to clinch the Vet (45+) National Championship.
