CADENBRASWELL Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Champion
Caden Braswell has had a plethora of success at the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship throughout his racing career, but the South Carolina native was still chasing a number one plate at the Ranch heading into 2018. The Team Dunlop Elite rider had logged a total of three second place overall finishes as well as a third place overall in recent years, but he had finally reached the point where nothing would be satisfactory unless it was a win. Braswell is one of the few riders that was chosen to represent Team USA at the FIM Junior World Motocross Championships in Australia, proving that he is one of the very best in the country in the 85cc ranks. Braswell chose to compete
in both Mini Sr. 1 and Mini Sr. 2 this year at the Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship; he finished on the podium in five out of six motos, barring a tenth place result in Mini Sr. 1 that drastically damaged his chances
at the championship. Nonetheless, the Team Dunlop Elite rider made up for it in the Mini Sr. 2 class as he utterly dominated the competition by way of two moto victories and a second place finish. Braswell took command of the champion- ship as he went out and won the first moto, working his way through the podium positions from third place to first in the matter of just a couple laps. The KTM rider turned the fastest lap of the moto as soon as he hit the front of the field, utilizing the clear track ahead of him to ride his own lines all the way until the checkered flag. Braswell led every lap in the second moto as he got out to an early lead, but it wasn’t without immense pressure from the riders in tow. He was forced into running a blistering pace in the late stages of the moto, clocking his personal best lap of the race on the penultimate lap in order to keep second place at bay, although he crossed the finish line with an advantage of just .042 seconds. In the third and final moto, the Team Dunlop Elite rider did exactly what he needed to do, finishing strong in second position in order to clinch the first Loretta Lynn Amateur National Motocross Championship of his career.
