The entire night in Detroit for round four of the 250 East coast series seemed to be one to remember. We saw a group of different faces on the box, including Geico Teammate Malcom Stewart taking the #1 spot, and a bunch of riders leaving the pits with fairly for- gettable nights. For Hampshire, though, this Honda rider’s Detroit seemed to be just another weekend.
The #31 sat just outside the top 10 in points heading into Detroit and qualified 8th in practice. With things looking good, RJ bolted out of the gate for Heat #1 passing for second in the rhythm section out of the first turn with style. Ahead of him, Tyler Bowers got out to the early lead, pulling out a 2.6 second lead over Hampshire, who rode great the entire 6 laps to finish 2nd. Wham, bam and just like
that, RJ skipped back to the semi to rest up for the main event a little over an hour aw
