Mystic Marv started heat number two in third position, trailing Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac and teammate Ryan Dungey. Attempting to pace the two front runner’s, all seemed to be well until WHAM! The camera quickly zoomed and captured Musquin implanted into the face of the finish line jump. Fortunately he would remount, but a trip to the pits was declared and
off to the semi he went (both semi-final and race trailer).
Lace the bow, insert the arrow, pull back, steady..steady... release! Marvin Musquin absolutely shot out of the launch pad in semi number one, taking the holeshot from a less than stellar gate position. Acting as alpha male of the pack, he quickly began to blaze a trail for the field to follow. That trail then turned to dust, and Musquin rode off into the sunset. He would go onto win the event and reload the holsters, preparing for a main event shootout.
MARV ATTACK! To the lead we go as the main event began, and the number 25 grabbed the first position early. After a few moments out front however, he succumbed to the pressure of his Baker’s factory counterpart Ryan Dungey, and would fall to the runner-up spot.
He would sit comfortably there until the ending laps, where the other piece to the Baker’s trio (Jason Anderson) would force a last ditch effort and inherit the number two ride. Although third was the final result initially, a late penalty to
Ryan Dungey would cause Musquin to place second, tying his best result yet.
