The common consensus from the first three rounds of MotoAmerica Motul Superbike rac- ing stands: who can stop Toni Elias? The Catalan native has only finished off the podium in one out of the six races so far this year, winning the other five in spectacular fashion. The series heads to Road America for the fourth round where Beaubier reigned victorious last year and he’s definitely eager to get back on the top step of the podium for the first time in 2018. Garrett Gerloff, Roger Hayden, and Bobby Fong will all return to competition at Road America as well after missing the second race at VIR. Hayden attempted to race, but he was too sore and banged up from the previous day’s accident and was forced to re- tire early, marking his fourth DNF of the season. It seems as though Scholtz and Beaubier are the only two riders who have continually proven that they’re capable of challenging Elias for the championship, but they’re going to have to start finishing ahead of him if they want to close the gap to the top of the points.
