#289 Mitchell Harrison: Yamalube/ Star Racing Yamaha
Brighton, Michigan’s Mitchell Harrison
has made a name for himself inside of the motocross industry. Mitchell coolness both
on and off the bike has got him very far in
his young career. Never one to cool guy any friend, fan, or media type, Harrison is an all around good guy...who happens to rip as well. A very hardworking rider, Mitchell doesn’t take well to losing or not performing at his best. “My Name is Mitchell Harrison. I am originally from Brighton, Michigan and am now living
in Murrietta, California. Mitchell Harrison is a hard working guy. Whether in the gym, on the track, or wherever I can make myself better for racing, I give it 110% effort. I’m also a down to earth person. I don’t try to cool guy people, I just act as a normal kid and have fun.” Bursting into his professional debut, Mitchell’s adjusting and overcoming the many differences associ- ated with his new gig and doing so comfortably thanks to his supporters. “The consistency and the aggressiveness are the hardest things to adjust to since making the transition. Luckily my whole team are fast guys that I can learn off of and make the transition from the Amateur’s to the Pro’s a lot easier. Also having the best bike in the 250’s can and will make that adjust- ment a lot easier. It is definitely a relief to be where I am heading into my first professional race of my career. But at the same time this is just the beginning and I need to work harder than ever. With the help of Gareth Swanepoel as my trainer, I know that I can succeed. I
have to thank Matt Walker a lot too for helping me get a ride with Star. He was the one who originally contacted him for me and he helped me so much. Then from there I just rode and showed them what I was made of and Bobby gave me an opportunity of a lifetime to ride
for him. It’s really cool to do all of the photo shoots and stuff. The box van goes everywhere I go and it makes it so much more fun and enjoyable. I’m learning a little bit everyday.
It is hard work, way more riding than ever.” Mitchell is backed by a slew of amazing team sponsors but he also retains a personal list
of amazing companies that have stood by his side for a long time. Although not a lengthy list, the power that each sponsor’s punch packs is immeasurable. “Aside from the amazing crew and sponsors with the Star Racing team, I have many great ones to shout out. Asterisk is a major supporter. Also Pant Saggin, I’ve been with PSD since 2009 along side Stance socks witch is a new sponsor on board. The MotoX Compound and Ryno Power help me tremen- dously. Not the longest list ever but the people that are behind me, they really help out a lot!” With his sights set on realistic goals, Harrison is still obviously going to be gunning for the top spot. With all the makings of a potential cham- pion, Mtichell and the Star Racing crew have the whole world in their hands. “My overall goal in the first year is to learn. Of course I want to come in swinging and be a contender but it’s more important for me to learn this year and also have fun that is such a major thing.”
