Lopes had different plans in mind however, the true “Red Bull” seeing the matador in front, and charging after Cooper with reckless abandon. Stalking Justin until the final flag, he remained composed under pressure, winning by a mere two seconds at the stripe. Time to sew things up; the third moto was here. With a downpour occurring overnight, New York’s Justin Cooper seemed to adjust well, with his native Northeastern roots coming to shine. Working his way around the holeshot of Tennant, Cooper seemed to stretch the lead little by little each lap. Watching him from the fence, he never appeared out of control, and always hitting his marks with precision. It would pay off, cross- ing the stripe with a subtle fist pump, knowing he’d lived up to his expectations by taking the championship.
