KILPATRICK
TAYLER ALLRED – GIRLS (11-16)
Butterflies before competition can be a good thing; as long as you can get them to fly in formation. Tayler Allred had the poise of a champion all week, from the moment she set foot on the ground of Loretta Lynn’s. Although deep down, anxious to reach out and steal
the number one plate, she knew she had to
be poised to claim the top spot away from the likes of Jordan Jarvis and Jazzmyn Canfield. Those trio of girls separated themselves im- mediately, running laptimes in the 2:09-2:11 range, and working their way through the moto. Canfield shot out front, while Allred and Jarvis had to work their way from a bit further back. Allred would climb, and so would Jarvis, a few spots away from each other. Hitting the Ten Commandments in near perfect sync, Allred knew every point was valuable in the end; her effort was amazing, so much so that she ran her fastest lap of the moto on the white flag circuit. It would pay off, as she would take second; with Canfield first, and Jarvis third. The second round again saw these three upfront, with Canfield pushing the pace this go around. Shuffling with each other on lap four, as the time continued, Canfield would emerge leader, with Allred studying her every move. She was taking mental note of the number 46, while Jarvis began to slip behind. Although Allred would finish second at the stripe, she knew
the game plan of Canfield coming into the final go-around, and was prepared to do whatever necessary to claim victory. Here we go, the race to claim it all. The gate falls, an unbeknownst character emerges, that of Korie Steede. She meant business, hitting the 2:17 mark, in which no else had come close. While she was leading the field, Allred was concerned about her two counterparts; Jarvis was in fourth, while Taylor and Canfield duked it out over the silver medal portion. After running neck and neck in the billboard sweeper, and into the next section
of trees, Allred finally took the backseat of the caravan, leading Canfield push just ahead. Unfortunately, Canfield looked to have her eyes on the prize, and Allred would have to settle
for second. Until, the unbelievable happened; the bike of Canfield began to slow, a dull throb had overtaken the machine. Rolling to a stop, both momentum and sprocket coming to a halt, Allred had inherited the spot she needed for a title. In utter disbelief, her hardwork from the first two moto’s had been the reception of a championship in the week’s conclusion. Both her team and family were beyond proud, and rightfully so. Congratulations!
