bike was constantly dancing, yet his core and outlook was on the straight and narrow. And although overtaken by Lopez in the late stages, he remained steadfast, bringing home yet again another second place finish. On the outside looking in, all Tanner Basso could do was continue to display his best effort; and that he did. Both he and Lopez were buried in the pack, with Smith, Carter Gordon, and Meshey up ahead. Meshey would take the lead, Basso would continue to climb, while Lopez remained stagnant. This would result in disaster for Lopez, but Basso was thriving in this moment. Each lap, he would continue to improve, all the way to second place. He turned around once crossing the stripe; where was Lopez? Fifth. He then looked to his mechanic and team, they were jumping in excitement. It was enough for the title, a mere razor’s edge of a margin, but he had done it. He was champion.
