The night started out good for Eli Tomac getting a good start in his heat race and working his way up to third, a good transfer spot. With only two laps to go in the very short heat race he loses his front end through the turn right outside the tunnel and
goes down losing his transfer position. He finishes the heat with a sixth. Having to move on to a semi, Tomac doesn’t get the best start. On lap one he quickly pushes his way up to sixth one spot away from a transfer position. Ray makes a mistake through a turn giving Tomac the extra room to make the pass.
