The main event saw Roczen get a solid start behind Red Bull KTM Riders Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin. Roczen would see Dungey take the holeshot and the early lead and knew he had to get into 2nd fast or risk seeing Dungey run away. Musquin would ride Roczen tough for the first few laps but would surrender his posi- tion to the charging RCH rider.
Once Roczen got into 2nd he tried putting his head down and catching Dungey but the damage had already been done. In the time it took for Roczen to work into 2nd, Dungey was able to build up a safe cushion and eventually cruise to a race win. Roczen would finish with a season best 2nd place but he still has to be upset he was not able to catch the defending champ. He is getting closer to notching that first win of the year and will be looking to do so next weekend in Glendale.
