Quickly into the race Christian Craig and Zach Osbourne make mistakes, putting Nichols into fifth. He then passes Smith moving to fourth. With just 6 laps to go, Alex Martin hits a tough block going into the over under and goes down hard moving Nichols into a podium spot. Trying his best to keep his head in the game with the excitement of his placement looming over him, luck strikes again and Webb has a bike problem, moving Nichols up yet another spot. Giv- ing him his career best finish of a second overall.
