                                   Who are we?
Beechwood is a charity that offers practical and emotional support when a diagnosis of cancer has entered your world. Nobody really knows how they will react to such news, there is definitely no right or wrong way - only your way. Our friendly team can help in so many different ways.
You can drop into the information centre Monday to Friday and talk to a Cancer Information Specialist; they have a vast array of information on useful subjects such as finance, benefit entitlements, holiday insurance and Macmillan grants to name just a few. They can also offer a space to simply sit and listen when you need to ‘share the load’.
You could join a support programme where
you will meet others ‘who get it’ and have the opportunity to chat and discover you are most definitely not alone. During the programmes
you will be offered a confidential one-to-one session with either a Cancer Support Specialist or a Beechwood Counsellor followed by a relaxing Complementary Therapy such as reflexology.
In some programmes an opportunity to attend discussion groups on various subjects is available, such as nutrition or fatigue, together with a relaxation session and lunch.
We welcome anybody who is currently affected by a diagnosis of cancer or other life limiting illness* to come and see us and we can direct you to the help you feel you most need.

*Life limiting illness is a progressive health condition such as cancer or heart disease, where the condition cannot be cured or controlled. Within this definition it is those conditions that are categorised as terminal illnesses as opposed to chronic illnesses, and they are managed rather than treated.
