Nail Influencer Asli Fernández Dies After ‘Mommy Makeover’ Plastic Surgery Gone Wrong

A nail influencer has died after undergoing a ‘mommy makeover’ cosmetic procedure.
Mother-of-two Asli Fernández had raised money for the plastic surgery, which involves a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast lift. Mommy makeovers are becoming increasing- ly popular among women who want to
improve their bodies after giving birth.
Patients can return to normal life within two to four weeks, but full recovery can take up to six months. Fernández, who was a much-loved nail technician with 80,000 Facebook fol- lowers and 44,000 Instagram fans, trav- eled to Monterrey in Mexico from her home city of Tijuana for the operation.
As well as creating
popular content regarding nail care on social media, the 30- year-old also ran a successful clinic in her hometown.
Her death was con- firmed by her hus- band, Christian Carreón, on January 7.
He shared a photo of his wife on social media and invited her followers to attend her wake that evening. Carreón wrote: “I know you were a very dear per-
son and that many people admired you, my love. “I ask you to respect the pain of others with the publi- cations that are circu- lating today. The wake will take place at the San Gabriel funeral in Fundadores at 7 p.m.”
One follower com- mented: “I can’t believe she’s no longer here.” Diana said: “I will see you in Heaven, friend, I will miss you very much.” Leo Santis Nails wrote: “No! My deep- est condolences. It can't be.”
Fernández had big plans for this year that included a nail course in Mexicali and Tijuana in March, as reported
by NeedToKnow. She wrote on Facebook on 1 January: “This year smells like money, ambition, health and accom- plishments.”
An investigation into Fernández’s death is
ongoing.
Earlier this year, another Instagram influencer Elena Larrea, tragically died at the age of 30 from a blood clot after undergoing a liposuc- tion operation.
Elena died from a pulmonary embolism on Tuesday just days after going under the knife. Her devastated family confirmed the tragic news on social media, and shocked fans rushed to pay tribute to the social media star.
A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot blocks a blood vessel in your lungs and it can be life-threaten- ing if not treated quickly. In Elena's case, it is still not known what caused the blood clot to form. However, it is alleged that her death hap- pened after a recent liposuction operation.
