The mayor of Araucária (PR), Hissam Hussein Dehaini, 65, got married this month to a 16- year-old teenager and, in the same week, promoted his mother-in-law to the position of municipal secre- tary of Culture and Tourism.
Hissam is in his second term as mayor of the city, which is located in the metropoli- tan region of Curitiba, and he is also a busi- nessman. The teenage wife is a student. Marrying a minor who is 16 or 17 years old is allowed by Brazilian law as long as there is parental consent.
The teenager's
mother became Secretary of Culture and Tourism on the 14th. Two days earlier, on April 12, the Official Journal of the Civil Registry Offices of Brazil published the act informing that the couple had pre- sented the docu- ments for the wedding (announcement of proclama- tions).

WORCESTER, Mass. —
A pair of customers allegedly trashed a Popeye's fast food restau- rant in Massachusetts over the weekend after staff told them something they ordered was not available.
According to the Worcester Police Department, officers were sent to the Park Avenue restaurant around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in response to a report of two men who were causing damage at the business. The men were gone before the officers arrived.
"Witnesses said that two males were in a line at the drive-through in their vehi- cle when they ordered their food. They were told that an item was not available,
and responded by threaten- ing the clerk and entering the restaurant," police said.
The men subsequently went inside the restaurant, where police said they began throwing food at the staff and vandalizing equip- ment, including a computer, register, TV and a printer.
"They left the restaurant, grabbed a rock, and threw it at the drive-through win- dow, breaking the glass," police said.
Despite the damage, the drive-through was in use on Monday.
As of Monday, officers said the incident remains under investigation.
