Aug. 22 (UPI) -- A Missouri fire department said a vegan firefighter's first day on the job ended up being a call for 40,000 pounds of ribeye steaks that caught fire on the highway.
The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District said on social media that crews responded Monday to a reported tractor-trailer fire on eastbound Route 174.
"Also, this was probation- ary [firefighter] Jenna Ulrich's first fire and she
got to fight it along side her father, [firefighter] Glenn Ulrich. Jenna is on the hose line," the post said.
A second post included a photo of Ulrich spraying the flames.
"Ulrich is the only vegan on our department -- so naturally, her very first fire involved a tractor trailer carrying 40,000 pounds of ribeye steak," the depart- ment said.
No injuries were reported, but the steaks were "a total loss."
The interviewer examined the job application then turned to the prospective employee. "I see you have put 'ASAP' down for the date you are available to start, meaning as soon as possible, of course.
However, I see you've put 'AMAP' down for required salary. I don't believe I've ever seen that before, what does it mean?"
The applicant replied, "As much as possible!"
A man walked into a bar, sat down, and ordered a beer.
As he sipped the beer, he heard a soothing voice say “nice tie!” Looking around, he noticed that the bar was empty except for himself and the bartender at the end of the bar.
A few sips later,
the voice said “beautiful shirt“. At this, the man called the bar- tender over. “Hey...I must be losing my mind,” he told the bar- tender. “I keep hearing these voices saying nice things, and there’s not a soul in here but us.”
“It’s the peanuts,” answered the bar- tender. “Say what?” “You heard me,” said the barkeep. “It’s the peanuts ... they’re compli- mentary.“
A woman wakes up on her birth- day, and says to her husband "Honey, I had a dream last night that you gave me a diamond neck- lace for my birth- day.
What do you think it means?" Her husband smiles and says "Maybe tonight you'll find out." Later that night, the couple go out to a nice show, and have
dinner at their special place.
At the end of the meal, the hus- band takes out a small gift- wrapped box, gives it to his wife, and says, "Happy Birthday honey"
The wife opens the box and inside is a book titled "How to Interpret Your Dreams."
A piece of string walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bar- tender tell him "Sorry, we don't serve strings here. Get out."
The string walks out and unravels one end of him- self and ties him- self up a few times and walks back in and orders a drink. The bartender says "Aren't you the string that was just in here?"
The string replies "No, I'm a frayed knot"
