Woman Sparks Debate As She Admits To Washing Her Christmas Tree In The Bath
By Julia Banim, Audience Writer
Many of us will have starkly dif- ferent opinions when it comes to Christmas tree decorating, from the correct date to put it up to whether clear
or colourful lights instil the most fes- tive cheer. Now a new debate has been sparked, and Christmas lovers just aren't sure what to think.
One woman has revealed she
gives her artificial Christmas tree a bath before dis- playing it each year, sharing pics of the tree soak- ing in the tub. Although this cer- tainly makes for an unusual sight at first glance, she's not doing
this to give the tree a nice relax- ing pamper ses- sion ahead of the festive season.
Detailing her rea- soning
on Facebook, the houseproud woman, who has recently gone
'from a pet to pet- free home' explained that she always makes sure to get rid of any dust or dirt before cover- ing her tree with twinkling decora- tions once again.
Although many of us may not have even considered this, it certainly makes a lot of sense, especially for those with pets.
An artificial tree could well be left up for as long as one month during the festive sea- son, gathering all sorts of airborne germs amid the sparkle. Then of course it's packed away in an attic or cupboard, with- out so much as a quick sweep of a
feather duster.
With this in mind, a number of fel- low Facebook users praised her 'great idea', which they remarked seemed just so 'obvious' upon reflection.
Some noted just how shocked they were when, year after year, they saw just how much dust had gathered on their trusty old tree.
Others however just weren't so sure, viewing this as just 'another thing I
must clean'. Thos e with more frag- ile trees felt theirs just wouldn't sur- vive a good clean anyway, deciding to just put up with the dust instead.
