FREMONT, Ohio (WTVG) - Newly released video of a traffic stop along Route 20 west of Fremont shows body cam footage from a Sandusky County Deputy. He had just pulled over a USPS Mail Van for speeding, going more than 100 mph in a 60 mph zone.
“Is there a reason you’re going over 100?” video shows the deputy asking the driver, to which the driver replies, “I didn’t realize I was going that fast.”
According to the traffic report from
Sandusky County, the van had no plates and the driver appeared to be racing a Ford Mustang. In the body cam video, the deputy goes on to say, “Yeah. I mean, that Mustang took off. He caught my attention, and then you blew by him, and I was pacing you at like 105.”
The postal worker identified herself as from the Fremont Post Office. The stop happened Sunday, April 21, 2024, at about 1:51 PM. Court records identify the driver as Drew Brown,
28, of Fremont. She waived the case, which is now closed, and paid $50 as the first installment of a $240 fine for the traffic violation after receiving a verbal warning for racing.
A spokesperson for the USPS emailed 13 Action News this state- ment:
“Drew Brown is an employee. It is under investiga- tion and as a mat- ter of policy, we are unable to comment further on a specific indi- vidual personnel matter.” - Naddia Dhalai, Spokesperson, USPS
Editor’s note: a previous version of this story said the driver paid a $50 fine for the traffic violation. A court clerk later clarified that the $50 listing on the court records refers to the first payment of a $240 fine.
