QCMC HIGH SCHOOL YOUNG SCHOLARS AWARD
Zaire Shaw is a senior at Phillip O Berry High School.
She currently has a 3.7 GPA and is very active in her school as well as her community. Zaire plans to attend Florida A&M University and major in Biomedical Engineering.
Her career aspiration is to develop medicine and technology to help those who are having health problems. Zaire has also developed an app for youth to use to find volunteer opportunities in their communities.
D’Kayla Thomas is a senior at Sun Valley High School.
She currently has a 4.2 GPA. D'Kayla is in NJRTOC and very involved in her school as well as her church. D'Kayla has many leadership roles in her school including student council as well as a youth leader at her church.
D'Kayla plans to attend NC State and major in Chemical Engineering. Her career aspiration is to develop technology that will help humanity.
Kayla Hensley is a senior at South Mecklenburg High School.
She currently has a 4.16 GPA while being involved in her school, the community, and having a part time job at Chick Fil A. Kayla plans to attend UNC Charlotte and major in Public Health. Her career aspiration is to become a Physicians Assistant.
Aimee Solomon is currently a second year nursing student at Carolinas
College of Health Sciences (CCHS), graduating in December 2019. She graduated from American University with a BA in Communication and Marketing. After much soul-searching, research and observation, Aimee concluded that a career in nursing was not only ideal, it was natural. She hopes to work as an oncology nurse after graduating this upcoming Fall. Aimee is the President of the Student Ambassadors, board member of the Student Nurse Association, member of the PTK Honor Society, and a peer tutor. When not in school, I enjoy traveling and spending time with loved ones.
