Major trade shows shift as pandemic persists
SEVERAL LARGE SCALE trade fairs across the US and Europe have recently postponed their 2020 events, thanks to Covid-19 and the uncertainty that it is creating.
Inspired Home Show 2021 moves to August – e International Housewares Association (IHA) announced this month that its rebranded annual home- plus housewares gathering, e Inspired Home Show, is being moved from its original March 2021 date to 7-10 August 2021.
“As the pandemic continued into the summer, we had multiple conversations with our Board of Directors, exhibiting members and retail buyers, all of whom were experiencing apprehension about the ability to safely convene the industry as soon as March of 2021,” says Derek Miller, IHA President.
e decision to postpone the Show until August of 2021 has “met with universal support” from the home + housewares retailer community.
In terms of a 2022 show, the IHA says it is reserving a nal date for now, pending a survey of exhibitors and buyers.

GIE+expo postponed until 2021 – e October 2020 iteration of the massive green trade fair GIE+EXPO, the Green
Industry & Equipment Exposition, has been postponed.
“ e health and safety of our attendees and exhibitors is critical, and it is with profound regret that we announce the cancellation of our 2020 event,” says Kris Kiser, Managing Partner of GIE+EXPO.
“We’re looking forward to 2021
and already gearing up to make our next show a dynamic and engaging experience for the entire industry. I encourage exhibitors and attendees that have already registered or secured exhibit space to roll those monies forward to the 2021 show.”
Planning is already underway for GIE+EXPO 2021, which is scheduled to take place over 20-22 October in Louisville, Kentucky.

Cologne fair shifts to June – As well
as cancelling its September 2020 show,
in response to demand, Koelnmesse
is permanently moving the date for spoga+gafa to the rst half of the year. In 2021, the event will take place once from 30 May to 1 June, and from 2022 onwards will take place in June.
