were almost all negative compared to Jan 2019, with actual dwelling volume +2.7% but overall value –1.4%”
• Non-residential: $481 million (–19.3%).
• Total:$1.9billion(–0.5%).
By volume 3,285 dwellings were
consented in the February 2020 month, +6% on Feb 2019.
Looking at YTD February 2020, value continued to grow:
• Residential: $16 billion (+9.4% on
YTD Feb 2019).
• Non-residential: $7.3 billion (+3.3%). • Total:$23.3billion(+7.4%).
By volume, for the year ended February 2020, the annual number of new homes consented was 37,882 (+10.6% on
YTD Feb 2019), the highest since the mid-1970s.
Auckland was the key driver, where
a total of 14,854 new homes were consented in the February 2020 year, just over 1,000 up on the previous February year and once again in uenced strongly by the growing numbers of higher- density townhouses, ats & units.
