                                                     Strong bond, no support
Sikaflex-118 Extreme Grab is Sika’s new one-part, solvent-free, extreme grab construction adhesive that has been designed
to bond materials such as stone, bricks, window and door sills, mirrors, wood beams and heavy mouldings indoors or outdoors. Along with very low emissions, the new product has a very high initial grab which removes the need for temporary mechanical fixings and it’s flexible, meaning there is more elasticity in the bond as well as offering good workability, especially if using a 26:1 high ratio caulking gun.

  How low can you go?
Dulux New Zealand has launched Dulux UltraAir, the first GREENGUARD Gold certified Ultra Low Chemical Emissions interior paint manufactured in New Zealand.
Dulux UltraAir is also Environmental Choice-approved and Global GreenTag certified, on top of which, the range’s 10L pails are made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic and can be recycled again and again through the Dulux Paint Take-Back programme.
Low odour and low emissions mean homeowners can use the room almost immediately upon applying the fast-drying paint and might assist families who may be prone to asthma or allergies, and other respiratory or skin irritants.
Dulux UltraAir is available in colours tinted off a white base in a Low Sheen or Matt finish, giving customers access to 500+ colours from the Dulux Colours of New Zealand range.

 Painting by numbers?
Ones and zeros that is... According to MBIE’s Building & Construction Sector Trends Annual Report 2021, AI, machine learning and robotics are some of the keys towards increasing productivity across all stages of construction, from design to finishing.
Although MBIE admits that “the pace of applying advanced technologies in the construction sector has been slower than other industries,” AI, along with robotics, drones, and 3D printers, could save building-related businesses 30% in time
Instead of taking humans out of the equation, however, says the report, these technologies will “allow workers to do their jobs more effectively”.
MBIE’s report says that construction robots could be “employed to perform repetitive tasks”, including painting, bricklaying, wall construction, plastering, facade installation, cleaning, inspection, beam assembly, and earthworks.
Advantages include fewer skilled workers required, time savings and lower costs (all of which tick boxes), fewer construction-related injuries and easier access to high risk and inaccessible areas, and the ability to work and manage remotely.
The report also highlights increased accuracy and quality as a key advantage of introducing robotics but we’re unsure what trades like the painting professionals might think about that.
Indeed, says the report:“Despite developments in technology, and the advantages that these could bring, there is a view
by some that due to the complex nature of construction site activities, it may take some time for these types of technology to be widely accepted by the sector.”

3. New Beginnings (colours: Shore Thing; Gracie; Evening Eclipse; Wild Hawk)
Bolder contrast colours reflect strength and optimism, prompting a desire to reconnect, share and celebrate resilience.
New life and energy can be introduced to a space by choosing uplifting yellow-based colours contrasted with reassuring blue and grey tones.
Together they touch upon nostalgic references while setting the scene for today’s share culture and diversity.
4. Natural Connection (colours: Silver Flash; Harvard Grey; Gramophone; Salsa Verde)
Green-infused colours, inspired by nature, embrace our innate need to connect with the natural environment.
Textured walls, timber, and stone, plus lots of foliage and nourishing daylight, all combine to satisfy our yearning to “bathe in nature” – this desire for wellness and connection is the strongest trend influence for 2022.
The layering of several greens and grey greens creates a palette that not only feels good but also blurs the line between indoor and outdoor living.
These 2022 colour palettes are available in Valspar’s ultra- premium interior paints.
