TRENT BRASH IS Steel & Tube’s new Group Sustainability Manager. Trent will be working closely with stakeholders
to drive sustainability improvements through Steel & Tube’s supply chain and manage key sustainability reporting.
Peter Fehl (photo above) has been inducted as an Honorary Fellow of
the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB). Builder, property manager
for VUW during its busiest ever period, construction-wise, BRANZ Board Member and more, the category of Honorary Fellow is a prestigious one and is limited to 10 members, construction practitioners who hold positions of eminence, distinction
or authority within the building and construction industry. The last NZIOB Honorary Fellow award was presented in 2020 and, before that, in 2009.
The NKBA announced its three latest Fellows at the recent Excellence in Design
relationships, and his engaging, charismatic personality serves him well in mentoring new designers and fostering industry growth,” says the NKBA.
Celia Visser of Auckland’s Celia Visser Design is a multi-award winner and “a passionate designer with
an unwavering
dedication to
improving the
professionalism and recognition of the design industry.” The current Certified Designers Society (CDS) Chairperson, Celia’s “direction and drive” was instrumental in the merger of CDS and the NKBA.
Alyssa “Aly” Gonzáles of Parapine ITM is the 2021 recipient of the Certified Designers Society’s educational scholarship, which
was set up to reward students showing potential but who also have a genuine need for support to accelerate their learning journey in the kitchen industry. Half Peruvian, half Kiwi, Aly is a mother of two young girls, a wife, avid home renovator, NKBA design student, and Kitchen Design Manager. Good stuff.

MATES in Construction recently welcomed a trio of new people into its whanau.
Emma Nightingale is MATES’ new Executive Administrator and comes
to the organisation armed with a
strong organisational background with significant industry experience in events management.
James Sendall joins MATES as a Field Officer in South Auckland, having most recently been working at Hilti following studies in sociology and criminology.
He says: “With both personal and professional exposure to the impact suicide has on the community, I feel that it is an absolute privilege to be a part of an organisation that is set on creating
a much-needed change around the perception of mental health and suicide prevention.”
Michelle Walsh is joining MATES’ in-demand Case Management team and brings to bear her experience as
an advocate for the Nationwide Health & Disability Advocacy Service. She says: “I find fulfilment in being able to support people in need, and I feel this role allows me to have a positive impact on the industry, as well as the wider communities across New Zealand.”
