We talked with Phil early on in Level 4 lockdown, before the rest of the country went to Level 2.
Although unavoidable, lockdown will increase pressure on already super-busy Master Painters across the country, he believes.
“Stress levels are starting to rise,” says Phil, “It’s a recurring theme.”
“You start to feel pressure with all the work that’s building up,” he says.
Pre-lockdown, Master Painters were “very, very busy”
across the board, although one Christchurch painter told Phil Wilkinson he thought they were “coming off the boil a little bit” just prior to lockdown, with activity stepping back slightly, albeit merely going “from manic to crazy” ...

  Whimsical project takes Dulux
Grand Prix New Zealand
The striking boutique Central Hotel by Naumi Hotels in Queenstown has taken out the Grand Prix New Zealand award in this year’s Dulux Colour Awards.
With interiors designed by Undercurrent in Wanaka, the project’s specially curated colour palettes result in each floor having a distinct hue while each room is “purposefully different”.
Central Hotel’s depth of colour saturation is described as “profound, with comprehensive application, across surfaces and furnishings... Memorably original and wonderfully playful, this is a project with vast attributes,” says Dulux of the project.
For its part, Naumi Hotels describes Central Hotel as “a whimsical wonderland with specially curated art-filled rooms, vibrant furniture and specially commissioned wallpapers behind the headboards by local artist Deborah Moss.”
