 Pana’s prefab
hits NZ
Last month, Panasonic Homes came to Te Kauwhata with the construction of a prototype standalone house using prefabricated materials in cooperation with Mike Greer Commercial.
The completed house is an 88m2, three-bedroom, single storey building, constructed using Panasonic Homes’ proprietary large panel construction method (“F method”), in which buildings are designed using 900 mm modules, with fixtures, such as sashes and ventilation ports and other construction elements, integrated into large external wall panels.
The building materials for this pilot build were shipped from Panasonic Homes’ Koto Factory in Japan in July 2020 and reached New Zealand at the end of August.
The installing of the envelope started in late September and construction was completed in about three months.
It will be interesting to keep tabs on this development, given the scale of Panasonic Homes’ housing operation.
Starting in 1963, by 2019, the operations’ total home sales had reached some 430,000 units, with around 380,000 apartments sold since 1977.

 THE 30TH ANNUAL Registered

Queenstown’s Triple Star Management not only took out the Supreme House of the Year, but also the 2020 Resene New Home Over $2 Million category as well as the National Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence, and National Kitchen Excellence awards (photo below).
Looking north to Taupo, Haimes Building took home the other big award for Supreme Renovation of the Year as well as the award for Bunnings Renovation

In a first for the competition, this year the
