What goes on tour...
Fieldays proved
again this year
that, when it comes to outdoor power equipment, the show isn’t actually about the hordes of visitors snapping up show specials.
ROI-wise, the four days at Mystery Creek each year are actually about generating interest and enquiry, most of which will be fulfilled and made concrete in the weeks after the event.
Word from the exhibitors we talked to this year (see page 8) was that while enquiries generated from visitors looking at outdoor power products were good, interest from the agri sector was subdued.
Better heads than mine suggest this
is simply reflective of where the primary industries are right now, confidence-wise and, speaking for ourselves, we’re pleased to be operating where we do, in a place which remains in robust good health.

HANSA PRODUCTS HAS
recently been over to Europe again
to exhibit at Europe’s largest green sector show Demopark (https://demopark. de/) in central Germany, together with its new distributor, Gartenland (http:// gartenland.de/).
Related news is Hansa’s appointment of former Asplundh GM NZ, Steven Milburn, as BDM Europe.
Tasked with establishing Hansa in Germany and Northern Europe, Steven is business fluent in German and is now based in Germany with his family.
With 10+ years’ experience working in the arboriculture and open space management industry in Germany, he comes to Hansa armed with an extensive skill base and
deep knowledge of the market and cultural variances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
As well as getting into the German market, Hansa’s Martin Vogel says the company is also focusing on further growth in Australia, having purchased the distribution rights from Hansa’s previous distributor in Australia in December last year.
OUTDOOR POWER SPORT
Now Hansa has its own team on the ground in Australia and is covering the territory directly from its Brisbane base
which will help in taking the larger Treecare product range to the Aussie market.

Kiwi is top international TIMBERSPORTS Rookie
IN MAY, NEW Zealand’s Chris
Lord was crowned the 2019 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Rookie World Champion, winning the title by the finest of margins at the stunning Tjolöholm Castle in Sweden.
In an enthralling contest, the Kiwi finished joint top of the overall standings, locked on 32 points with Australia’s Josh Bakes as the southern hemisphere pair dominated the final three disciplines of the competition.
Unable to separate the two on points, Chris Lord was awarded first place having posted an overall time just 0.23 seconds faster than Bakes. Sweden’s Emil Hansson completed the top three in his home country.
Hoping no doubt to follow in the footsteps of Kiwi TIMBERSPORTS legend, Jason Wynyard (who didn’t compete this year for the first time in a
decade), the new rookie champ Chris Lord says: “I’m happy to be here and happy to win, it’s amazing. Hopefully I’ll
be back to have a crack at wining another world title!”
