  Give me A BREAK!
A SUMMER BREAK that is.
This time last year, we were rounding up November 2020’s Hardware
Awards and looking forward to an eagerly anticipated summer break.
After the disrupting chain of events we all experienced in 2020, 2021 was
going to be much better, right?
Sort of. And it was for a while.
Which is why, as you will already know, we’ll be celebrating the 2021
Hardware Awards a little later than planned, in 2022 in fact – on 15 February at Cordis Auckland.
That’s a first for us and even getting that date was a close-run thing to be honest, what with venue bookings seemingly becoming a competitive sport. In this respect, we appreciate the ongoing support the industry has shown
us in these times of uncertainty, distraction and frustration.
Indeed, we have 400+ seats already booked and confirmed for the 2021
Hardware Awards, and we will tell you how we will be mitigating risk for those attending the event as early as possible, of course depending on which colour traffic light we’re at...
Yes, 2021 has been a fluid year, and those who expected a return to normality will have been sorely disappointed.
Thanks Delta.
But it has been impressive how many of even the largest companies in and around the hardware channel have been able to reset and adapt to the changing circumstances.
Having said this, some aspects of doing business in the hardware channel remain out of one’s control and in this respect it’s clear that the current issues with the supply chain will persist.
For how long? Pick a number, any number...
Signing off for 2021, I’m looking forward to a break and even getting out of Auckland for a bit.
In this respect it has been a difficult 100+ days of restricted movement for us in the City of Sales so, although some don’t want us Aucklanders soiling their
patches, I say welcome to the new normal.
It’s here, we’re dealing with it, let’s continue to do so with determination and dignity.
Take care, stay well, and keep on doing good by others – we’ll see you in 2022!
