Mark your calendars: SHA Board Meeting | February 12th | 7:00pm | Jones Creek Library
—continued from page 6
Entrance Sign Committee Report – Sandy Smith – Sandy and Don will meet with with Craig from Newton Architects to discuss final drawings. Don met with another contractor to give him information to make a bid. Currently Pinnacle Construction and Dozier Construction are the two companies who are expected to bid, but three bids will be preferable. A resident in attendance questioned what was the expected time frame for the completion of the new sign. Don stated that we are hopeful that the sign will be completed this year.
Newswatch/Website Report – Ed Craig – Ed reported that 55 users accessed the membership forms page he created and that 34 people so far have sent dues in through the website. Also 1245 people have signed up for email blasts. Ed will refresh the web page and asked the board members to each send a short bio of themselves to put on the website. Ed reported that the Newswatch grew from 7 pages to 20 pages in 2018 and went full color in January, 2019. In the February issue, the SECPID page will be a report written by Capt. Buqoi.
Unfinished Business –
SECPID Commissioners – Larry Horacek, SHA’s recommended nominee for the Mayor’s appointment is still waiting for the Mayor to appoint him. There is now another space on the SECPID Board of Commissioners because Jack Ricou stepped down as Bodi White’s appointment. If the Mayor doesn’t make her appointment within the next 5 days, Don suggested that we should present Larry to Senator Bodi White to appoint him as Jack Ricou’s replacement. Don asked attorney Sherri Morris to confirm the length of the commissioners’ terms. She is looking into it.
Christmas Yard Decoration Contest – Only two of the 10 houses that were nominated belonged to paid SHA members. An announcement of the winners will be postponed until the next meeting when Mike can attend.
Membership – The membership packet went out to all homes on December 8. 141 homeowners had paid their dues by 12/31 and an additional 166 paid between 12/31 and 1/8. As of now 307 have already paid as compared to 384 for the entire year in 2018. The exposure in the newsletter and the packet mailing helped to greatly improve the membership numbers. Yard signs were made encouraging residents to pay their dues. Sandy made a motion, and JC seconded, to have the Board Members put one of the signs in their yards for a month to generate even more awareness. Motion passed.
