P. 36

CONCLUSION
Some of us feel powerful when we are angry. This may be because we feel weak and insecure when we are not angry. Cosmos explains that this habit of anger will lead to others not wanting to be around you.
In an artificial environment such as school and the family, which forces you to interact with Anger Bees type people, these Anger Bees may not realize how negative their behavior is viewed and that once this forced interaction is over, no one will want to be around them.
You can use real world examples of anger type behavior you have observed. Without pointing out any particular child or adult, describe a situation and ask your children to talk about how they perceive the Anger Bee person. Ask them if they ever act like the Anger Bee person in your example. Seeing ourselves as others see us can frequently be a great motivator for change.
You want to reinforce that Anger is frequently a Not OK emotion, if is the result of Stinky Thinking. This type of thinking unusually contains a lot of “Must,” “Ought,” and “Should” statements; “They should have more respect for me.”
The resulting Not OK emotions and Thumbs Down behaviors may lead to some immediate negative consequences but also to some long term dysfunctional coping styles (substance abuse).
