Page 32 - The Tree of Happiness
P. 32

This is a very important concept to discuss with your children "Happiness is a Process; it is ongoing without any ending point. There is no 'If I do this' or 'If he will do that,' finality to the process of happiness. "
The topic of this fable is “gaining the tree of happiness .” In this first part of the story, you will want the children to understand that the Princess had irrational “Stinky Thinking” and that it was causing her a lot of discomfort. The “Wizard” is really a representation of her stinky thinking and it is the same type of thinking that limits many of your children. Like the Princess/Queen, they don’t like the problems this thinking causes but they want someone else to fix it.
Our Queen will learn that the Elf of the story is not going to make it easy (and that is a good lesson for all of us). Even though she will be far from happy at the end of Part One, she will have stood up for herself despite the threats of her advisors. She will have completed her first “Task” and she will be willing to continue her tasks in her effort to enter the Tree of Happiness.
