COSMOS EXPLAINS THE STORY OF TOO BIRDS
In this story, the world changed and it was necessary for the birds to learn how to cope with it. They were fortunate to have a Congress which helped them with these decisions. For some however, their “Too Beliefs” caused them not to want to follow the guidance of the Congress. For some, not following this guidance lead to some pretty bad ends.
As you get older, your life is going to change, just as it did for the birds in the story. You will need to adapt to and cope with those changes. You won’t have a Congress to help you decide what to do, or will you? People who have your best interests at heart can function as part of your Congress. They can be friends, family, teachers, ministers and so on.
You can ask them about situations or concerns and listen to their advice. You can use books like Coping Skills and others to give you guidance and finally, your own Good Thinking should be part of your Congress. You can put all of these together and come up with the best way to deal with a particular situation.
Just like the birds in our story, you must watch out for any Too Beliefs. These can range from a school subject being too difficult, to thinking that someone else is too popular to want to be your friend. In the first example, because you tell yourself that a subject is too difficult, you won’t try your best to master it. After all, “Why try if I’m going to fail anyway.”
