Page 4 - Too Birds
P. 4
Hello, Cosmos Crow again. I spend a lot of time telling you about my adventures and how silly other animals and people can behave. Now it is time to tell you a story about my own kind ... Birds.
Now, this story is what you might call a legend. A legend is a story that has been passed down as true from one generation to another but there is no way to prove that it really happened. I know that in human culture there are many, many legends. In the bird culture, there are also many legends but none as well known as the Story of Too Birds.
The legend goes like this: Once upon a time, long before the age of humans, there were birds. We were the most numerous and widespread of any animal. During this time, the earth was perfect. There was sunshine each and every day.
It always rained just enough, never too much or too little. It usually rained at night and never when you were having a party. The temperature was always perfect, never too hot or too cold. Trees and vines bore fruit and nuts year round. It was easy to find food.
During this long ago time, there were many different types of birds but we just called ourselves Birds. We all ate the same food, lived in the same locations and acted pretty much the same. It was a wonderful time and life could not have been better but then things began to change.
