Page 13 - GM-Tanya the Tattling Rattler
P. 13

Tattling is one of those things that can be very confusing. Telling an adult about the behavior of another may be good one time but bad another time. In the story, Stella tried to explain to Tanya when it was okay to tell a grown-up about the behavior of another. It really had to do with trying to keep the other youngster from getting hurt or in trouble.
Unfortunately, Tanya’s reasons for telling on others did not have anything to do with trying to keep the others from harm or trouble. Tanya told on others because it got her attention from the grown-ups and it let her get even with others.
Her behavior resembled many of you readers. You make yourself angry with someone and then you “Tattle” on them for something so they will get in trouble. Then you tell yourself and others, “I was just doing what I am supposed to do.” I am sure you are smart enough to see that what Tanya was doing was unhelpful and mean.
