Unfortunately, it is often very difficult to decide when it is appropriate to tell (tattle) and when it is appropriate to teach.
Read the following and Circle “Yes” if the behavior was correct and “No” if it was incorrect.
1. Someone deliberately broke the classroom air conditioner. After class, you tell the teacher who did it. (Yes No )
2. A classmate tells the teacher that she dropped her homework on the way to school. You tell the teacher that you walked to school with her and they didn’t drop anything. (Yes No)
3. You overhear two boys talk about pouring ink on another student at recess and you don’t tell anyone. (Yes No)
4. Your class collected money for a good cause. You see another student steal some of the money. At recess, you tell her to return the money or you will tell the teacher.(Yes No)
5. Your mother leaves you in charge when she goes shopping and your brother does something that is strictly forbidden. You don’t tell on your brother. (Yes No)
