In fact, the nut slid down among the rocks and the crow could not find it. The crow was very upset. He had gone to all that trouble only to lose the nut. No matter how long he looked, he could not find it.
The little nut laid between a bunch of rocks, resting on a thin layer of dirt. Our little nut stayed there for a long time. The adult crows telling this story would always explain to us that the little nut was lonely and sad. He was concerned that he would never have the chance to become a tree.
Months went by but it never rained on the mountain so our little nut had no chance to grow. Then it got very cold and our little nut knew nothing but the color white and he slept.
