Page 8 - FS-Grizzly Bear
P. 8

And that’s exactly what he did. Here this bear is, growling, snarling and pawing the dirt and the man is just lying there, not moving a muscle. Even up in the tree the bear’s noise was loud to me.
What do you think happened next? Well, the bear came over and sniffed him and poked him with its big paw but the man never moved. The man kept telling himself to be calm and brave and he began feeling calm and brave.
The bear eventually tired of this sniffing and poking
and finally shook its big head in disgust and left the man alone in the woods. Then it went back to its cave and went to sleep.
The third man did not go with his first impulse or even his second.
At first he was scared, as most of us would have been. Then he became angry, as some of us would have been.
But then he asked himself, “What is the smart thing to do?” Once he figured that out, he did it.
That is why I named the third man, the “Thinking Man.”
