Page 12 - SB-Jeff the Monkey
P. 12
Sometimes, our Stinky Thinking concerns others. In the story, when Jeff did not have any bananas, he would say ugly and hurtful things to others. Or, he would scream and annoy others to get what he wanted. His Stinky Thinking contained a lot of “should” and “must” phases like, “They should be willing to give me some bananas, look how much they have and I don’t have any.”
When your Stinky Thinking, which is directed at others, contains “musts” and “shoulds,” you will be angry with them. Was it the fault of the grown-ups or of the other young monkeys that Jeff did not have any bananas? If not, then how do you explain him getting angry and acting badly toward them... Stinky Thinking.
1. When Jeff wanted the bananas from others, what was he telling himself?
2. When he thought that way, how did he feel?
3. How did he act when he felt this way?
4. Did the others give Jeff what he wanted when he acted this way?
