President - Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Henry Grace.
Secretary’s Report – Henry noted an error in the minutes of the January meeting. The minutes stated that Henry had accepted Don Regner’s resignation. They should have stated that Henry had not accepted the resignation as of yet and that Henry would talk to Don and try to get him to continue on as Vice President and Board Member until the entrance sign project is complete. Motion made by JC and seconded by Ken to accept the minutes of the last monthly business meeting as published on the website with this one correction. Motion passed.
Introduction of Guests – Nathan Rusk, a resident of Shenandoah and President of the newly formed Rotary Club of Southeast Baton Rouge was in attendance. He said the club has 21 members, soon to be 30, and they are looking for service opportunities in our community. He noted that they are a neighborhood-focused rotary club that can assist in staffing events and fundraising for other groups. He stated that they meet on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 11:45 am at City Cafe’.
Treasurer’s Report – Mike reported that receipts in December were $5,586.11, and expenses were $2,557.08, which included the cost of mailing out the 2020 Membership packet with the dues notices.
Membership Report –Mike reported that we have a total of 452 paid members as of January 31, which includes those who paid in December. As of the date of this meeting, an additional 31 residents have paid which totals 483 paid members YTD. Several ideas were discussed for a newcomers committee. A resident suggested that we create a membership card annually and ask the Newswatch advertisers to offer a small discount to SHA members who present the membership card. The Shenandoah Homeowners Association dues remain at $30 per year. Please send in your dues, or you can pay them via PayPal on the website. (shawebwatch.com).
