So no matter how well you explain how to keep their balance on the bike you got them for Christmas, your child will fall o , get frustrated and “never want to do this again.”
Encourage them to pay a en on by rst ge ng their a en on. Keep the instruc ons simple and tell it to them, ‘with a smile in your voice’. You should have them repeat your instruc ons to you to insure that they do understand (correct any misunderstandings... nicely).
Encourage them and praise them when they do follow direc ons. Point out when they have not followed direc ons and what could be the possible consequences. The skills of Paying A en on and Following Direc ons are skills they will use all of their lives.
