We were able to participate and host several events on and off-campus this year. SIS hosted a student-driven SISIMUN conference which included several schools around Shenzhen. MS and HS MUN attended online conferences held in Beijing and Dongguan. Students enjoyed a week of social impact SDG- aligned day trips in Shenzhen for Week Without Walls. We also had the IB DP Art Exhibition and the much anticipated SIS Film Festival.
This school year brought many changes to the structure of the secondary administration. With the departure of Phil Rogers, our secondary principal, in December, SIS made the conscious decision to change the roles of our secondary principal, in SIS made the conscious decision to change the roles ofur assistant principals to associate principals. Their responsibility would be to work collaboratively and focus on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development. We added the role of
pastoral care associate to ensure the physical and emotional welfare of our students. Under the guidance of our Deputy Head of School, this new team banded together to ensure our student's education, care, and well-being were consistent through the year.
Lastly, SIS will say goodbye to our Bayside campus and move to our new home Net Valley for the 2021-2022 school year. We made all the necessary preparations for this exciting move. The Net Valley campus is approximately double the amount of floor space (13,000 sq metres). It includes dedicated facilities including theatre and black box, design (workshops, exhibition space, and a teaching kitchen), visual arts, a revitalized library, and larger brighter classrooms. We feel this working environment holds endless possibilities for inquiry and learning. In addition, students will enjoy the outdoor space on the ground floor, which features several athletic courts and areas.
