P. 164
To The Class of 2020,
Senior year is always a year of transition, of change, of anticipating a new direction in education and beyond. Accompanying all of this are the traditions that are held dear by each class of graduates those things which create the memories that last a lifetime. But this year is different. Suddenly and most unexpectedly those anticipations are stolen by the virus that threatens the lives of people from around the world a global pandemic. A natural reaction might be, “Why us?” or “Why now?” Yet those questions have not been heard from the class of 2020. Rather than those questions, we are more likely to hear questions about how we can help, and how can we keep together as the community we have forged over these past years. The class of 2020, in spite of the need to be isolated for a time, will always be remembered for standing PRIORY STRONG.
The Class of 2020 has taken its place in the long and proud history of the Priory. It has excelled in leadership qualities, strongly influencing the underclassmen with spirit and direction. Academic success, reflected in the diverse college opportunities offered to members of the class, has been outstanding. Interest and accomplishment in the arts, in drama, on the athletic fields has surely proven to be a stepping-stone for those to follow. Involvement in Campus Ministry activities and generous support for the various drives and appeals to relieve the suffering of those in need has been remarkable. The class of 2020 has indeed made a statement.
May the Benedictine values of Community, Individuality, Hospitality, Spirituality and Integrity serve you well as you move on to yet another phase of your journey. May you keep each other safely in your hearts as you go your separate ways, and may you always remember the magic of these years, the community that loves you and as this year’s theme challenges us to -- ENVISION the best YOU.
With the warmest regards,
Mr. Molak Father Martin
