OUR VISION

The Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine is a pioneering effort
in many ways, and that was our
dad’s intent. My brother John’s and my
dad led a wonderful entrepreneurial life. He was always testing limits; he always wanted to innovate. Things could always be better. When he heard about regenerative medicine, a light went off, and he said
“This is the future!” His vision was to find the right solution to move this research forward, and that’s why the Center bears his name.
Established in 2006 with a generous gift in Charles Gates’ memory, the Center strives to honor the dream of its visionary namesake. We strive to uphold a steadfast tradition of pushing ahead and questioning norms; of encouraging collaboration between basic scientific researchers and clinical faculty; and most of all, of looking to the power of people to improve human lives.
Always go forward and never look back.
This is the enduring philosophy of Charles Gates, a man who foresaw stem cells’ infinite potential for all of humanity and envisioned a place where unbridled collaboration could bring it to life. He passed away in 2005, but his legacy of action lives on at the Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine.
