Existing electric range stoves were retained for use in the retrofitted units for cost reasons. The kitchen exhaust fans were replaced in all buildings with lower fan power hoods for higher energy- efficiency. Both kitchen and bathroom exhuast fans operate continuously at low power to ensure good indoor air quality without requiring user intervention. Bathroom fans are controlled by a humidistat as well, to activate an increase in moisture removal if necessary.
