                                                       WRITING II

                     Name: Michelle Pilatuña


                     Nowadays, for many people, especially students, having good writing skills could be
                  difficult. Moreover, teachers give feedback to students because they want to learners
                  improve their writing. Because of negative feedbacks, students usually do not follow
                  feedbacks.  Sometimes,  receiving  feedback  could  overwhelming  for  students.  In  my
                  opinion, feedback on academic writing is very important in for a student success.


                     Most teachers tend to give too much feedback about students’ writing, and it could be
                  negative for students instead of being a benefit. Students can feel demotivated by the
                  comments that they receive. Thus, they just see the grades assigned by the teacher, and
                  students do not read all the feedback (Oxford, 2014). This is negative for students because
                  if  they  do  not  read  comments,  they  won’t  improve  in  their  writing  skills.  The  same
                  mistakes in their writing will continue appearing. It is very important that students can
                  analyze the feedback in their writing, in this way they can improve their academic writing.


                     There are many ways of giving feedback. The intention of constructive feedback is to
                  help students to improve grammar, punctuation, academic ways to write in their essays,
                  paragraphs, articles, etc. However, there is another way to give feedback, and I consider
                  it is better than the others.  “Other forms of feedback they received included oral feedback
                  from friends and peers and from face-to-face meetings with university writing center
                  tutors” (Tuzi, 2004). Oral feedback is better for students because they can analyze all their
                  problems in their writing with their teachers. Students can ask question or clarify their
                  doubts, and in the same way teachers can help them to recognize their mistakes.



                     As a conclusion, most students do not realize the importance of feedback. The purpose
                  of receiving comments of their teacher is just to help them to write correctly. If teachers
                  continue seeing the same mistakes in their students’ writing, they can use other methods
                  to give feedback. Students have to read carefully the comments in their writing, in this
                  way they will be able to write better texts.
