Colorado Governor Vetoes Bill - Ending Private Investigator Licensing and Consumer Protections
On Saturday 07/11/2020 Colorado's governor vetoed HB20-1207 - Continuing the Private Investigator Licensure Act.
This effectively ends licensing and consumer protections in Colorado on 08/31/2020.

First, we Thank YOU – Coloradoans, clients and colleagues – for the overwhelming support from when this sunset review
process started about this time last year, and right up until it was vetoed. Many sent letters to DORA, the legislature,
and the governor's office. We appreciate the time you took to support our profession and consumer protections in
Colorado! We are Committed to Client Confidence!

Why Was HB20-1207 - Continuing the Private Investigator Licensure Act - Vetoed?

We have posted to our monthly blog commentary for these answers, and important and complete details. We have also
included a link to a training video, intended for Colorado licensure, which details the losses to the public. We
recommend all Colorado Professional Investigators - new and veteran - follow the guidance in this video for the
standards of practice and ethics. You can view the video, including now recommended standards & protocols and ethics,
and you are welcome to share.
